Marshall Votta of RowdMap, Inc. Presents on the Impact of Low-Value Care on Consumers at Leaders Board Roundtable and as Guest Lecturer at Brown University
SAVANNAH, Ga., March 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Marshall Votta, Chief Market Officer, RowdMap, Inc. will be presenting on the Impact of Low-Value Care on Consumers at the Leaders Board Roundtable in Savannah, GA on March 30, 2017. http://bit.ly/2mU4cBL The Leader’s Board members include the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Johns Hopkins Health System, Massachusetts General Hospital, Yale New Haven Hospital, Sharp Healthcare, University of Chicago Medicine, SSM Health and many other leading provider systems.
Marshall Votta’s presentation is titled «Assessing Your Network Strategy: The Impact of Low-Value Care on Consumers.» The presentation will cover how the delivery of low-value care has been identified as the single greatest weakness of fee-for-service (FFS) payment models, and accounts for more than 30% of all U.S. healthcare expenditures. Leaders from medical societies and academia have researched low-value care for decades and defined the preference-sensitive, supply-driven practice patterns which lead to over-use, under-use and misuse of procedures, prescriptions and diagnostics (see the Dartmouth Atlas, ABIM’s Choosing Wisely for examples).
Attendees at this session will learn how to quantify the amount of low-value care being delivered by their own provider organizations compared to local peers and how to develop tactics for adopting value-based approaches incorporating practice transformation, referral realignment, network development (CIN, ACO, IPA), government alternative payment model (APM) selection, payer negotiation, and more.
«Many provider systems are not aware they are already in risk-based and value-based contracts with payers. Payers in every major market are driving dollars and members to high-value providers. Providers stand to benefit from understanding these tactics in their market and how it impacts them. Meanwhile, consumers are increasingly aware of the impact of low-value care on their productivity and pocketbooks,» said Marshall Votta, Chief Market Officer, RowdMap, Inc.
This presentation comes after Marshall Votta’s guest lecture at Brown University on March 2, 2017. At Brown, his lecture included an overview of the current payment and delivery landscapes, as well as ongoing changes to both payment and delivery and where they intersect. Votta then expanded on the implications of new payment and delivery models on all aspects of medical devices- designers, manufacturers, regulators, prescribers and consumers.
Marshall has immense experience as a guest lecturer and presenter, having been invited to Brown University’s School of Engineering and Alpert Medical School, as well as the Rhode Island School of Design. He has covered topics such as implantable devices, digital health and design for aging populations. Votta has been on the planning committee for AcademyHealth’s Health Datapalooza since 2013.
As Chief Market Officer, Marshall has extensive experience at accessing the market, developing products and at RowdMap, Inc., growing a diverse client base across 48 states covering over 100MM members and patients with both health plan payers and providers.
About RowdMap, Inc:
An Ernst and Young EY Entrepreneur Of The Year® winner, RowdMap’s Risk-Readiness® benchmarks help health plans, physician groups, and hospital systems identify, quantify, and reduce no-value care that physicians deliver- a central tenet of successful pay-for-value programs.
Through practice patterns and referral analysis, RowdMap’s benchmarks identify the health care entities that manage unwarranted and unexpected variation in care. This variation leads to more than $850 Billion in no-value care annually. Payers and physicians use RowdMap’s physician and population health benchmarks to create strategies that put these highest performing physicians at the center of networks and then design products, organize clinical programs, and coordinate sales and marketing around them.
RowdMap’s platform comes preloaded with benchmarks for every physician, hospital, and zip code in the United States– no IT integration required. RowdMap’s Risk-Readiness® Platform works across all market segments and has significantly larger returns than traditional medical economics approaches.
